You Can Now Study Tacos in College

If you ever wanted to officially study tacos, you could always go back to college. The University of Kentucky now offers a class to undergraduates called “Taco Literacy: Public Advocacy and Mexican Food in the US South.” The curriculum is more than just corn tortillas and salsa, though. In an interview with Munchies, Steven Alvarez, assistant professor for the school’s writing, rhetoric and digital studies department said, “This class allows our students to explore the issues of immigration, inequality, workers, intercultural communication, and literacy through the prism of food. Even the most stubborn of students that say they hate writing love to write when it comes to writing about food.” Sounds delicious.
