Chipotle’s E.coli Outbreak Appears to be Over

 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said yesterday that the E. coli outbreak linked to Chipotle restaurants, appears to be over. The outbreak that began last summer and sickened 60 people, had the most recent reported illness on December 1st. The outbreak affected 14 states. The CDC has closed its investigation but the source of the outbreak is still unknown and Chipotle executives said it may never be identified. In response to the E. coli outbreak, the company has undertaken an aggressive revamping of food preparation methods at all of its locations. But sales have dropped, and the company’s stock has fallen by 26 percent over the past three months.
