Would you ever consider naming your child after a movie character? BabyCenter.com reports that some parents are, and many are reaching for the stars. That is, the names Rey and Kylo from “Star Wars” are really having a moment. The website reports, “With the seventh film of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise currently in theaters…it seems parents have been ‘awakened’ to the baby name potential lurking out there in the galaxy.” Kylo and Rey have seen the biggest jumps in popularity, while Han, Jedi, Rogue and Rebel have also experienced upticks in use, thought to a lesser extent. Kylo zoomed up the boys’ list by 67 percent since 2015, while for girls, the name Rey rocketed up more than 11,000 spots in the rankings, or 82 percent since 2015. Still, Leia is the top “Star Wars” name choice among parents, coming in more than 2,000 positions higher than Rey.
